Sebastian begins her interview detailing her background and the decision to pursue nursing. She describes her education and getting established as a faculty member including finding her confidence and working with students. She discusses getting her doctorate degree and transitioning to a deanship. Sebastian gives an overview of initiatives during her tenure as dean such as funding for the Lincoln and Kearney campuses, the DNP program, and the joint MSN/MBA program with UNO. She provides more detail on the distant nursing campuses, the Continuing Nursing Education program, and establishing the Lincoln and Kearney campuses. Sebastian describes technological advancements in instruction and distance education as well as the effect the COVID-19 pandemic had on nursing education at UNMC. She discusses her personal research and campus research including the creation of the Center for Chronic Care Management (CENTRIC) and the Niedfelt Nursing Research Center (NNRC). Sebastian concludes her interview reflecting on her mentors, the history of nursing at UNMC, student advice, and her retirement plans.
