Stuberg begins his interview by describing his background and interest in physical therapy. He details his career and education path that led him to UNMC and the appeal of the Munroe-Meyer Institute. He discusses the successes and challenges of leadership, evolution of the field of physical therapy and disability services, and how inclusivity has grown in the U.S. He describes MMI’s role in advancing acceptance in Nebraska and MMI’s value for patients including Camp Munroe. He discusses important lessons for students, notable figures, and MMI’s influence in shaping policy. Stuberg recounts his favorite and most challenging memories at MMI and reflects on his accomplishments. He discusses future challenges for MMI including funding research. He reflects on his emeritus status, his future plans, the growth of MMI, and his personal influence on it. Stuberg concludes his interview by giving his opinion on the most important aspects of MMI, lessons he has learned, and advice he would give to future students.
