McCloud begins her interview describing her background, family, and education. She details moving to Offutt Air Force Base and dealing with racism in the housing market. She discusses interviewing and starting at UNMC as the assistant registrar, diversity of campus when she started in the 1970s, and committee work in recruitment and at distant campuses. She describes admissions policies relating to Black students, especially in Allied Health departments. She discusses starting as director of Minority Student Affairs, getting grant funding, and summer programs for high school and baccalaureate students. She details employee relations while she was a director and retention and student support including starting a test bank, mentoring with the Protégé Program, and meetings at her home. McCloud discusses working on the Equal Employment Opportunity Grievance Committee and her career change to Washington and Lee University. She concludes her interview describing her motivation for writing her autobiography and several awards she’s received.
