Dr. Truhlsen begins his interview describing how he gained admission to medical school and who inspired him to go into medicine. He discusses beginning classes and his first exam. He talks about the effects of World War II on the campus, students and curriculum including going to basic training and earning a salary. Truhlsen talks about the structure of the physical campus including fraternities, the military presence on campus and general structure of the curriculum. He concludes his interview describing his family and army life, his experiences with professors and Poynter’s influence on internships after graduation.
