Dr. Bancroft starts his interview detailing the faculty on campus while he was a student and teaching bacteriology. He describes being required to draw and paint tissue samples with watercolors. He mentions his internship in Minnesota and starting his pediatric practice in Lincoln, Nebraska, afterward. The majority of Bancroft’s interview discusses what he views are the major changes to the field of pediatrics including a rigid attitude toward child rearing, male pediatricians, a shift to a permissive style of parenting and childhood diseases and mortality.
